Pakistan: leather exports for first 11 months exceed $1 billion

May’s figure of $103.6 million was nearly 32% higher than the figure for May 2010 according to data released by the government’s Federal Bureau of Statistics.
During May 2011, the country exported finished leather worth $50.1 million, leathergoods with a value of $43.6 million and footwear with a value just under $10 million. This took the total for the first 11 months of the financial year, which runs from July to June in Pakistan, to just over $1 billion, which compares to $793.4 million for the first 11 months of the previous financial year.
