Honour for French leather industry veteran

A prominent figure in the leather industry, Paul Batigne, received the award of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in his home country, France, last month.

His nomination for the distinction came after 40 years in the service of the leather industry.

Mr Batigne is chief executive of hides and skins trading company Sabin. Before that, he managed his family tanning business for 40 years. He is also president of the Syndicat de la Mégisserie (tannery for glove and garment leather, usually from goat, sheep or calf skins) Française, vice-president of the Fédération Française de la Tannerie Mégisserie, and vice-president of leather research organisation CTC.

Mr Batigne was also a member of the COTANCE presidency between 1996 and 2002.
