More hides coming into Fujian

Customs inspection authorities in China’s Fujian province have announced that more imported bovine hides have come in through its ports in the first five months of 2011 compared to the same period last year.

Over the five-month period, in Quanzhou alone, imports of cattle hides increased by 121.5% in volume and by 171.6% in value, reaching almost $70.6 million. The main sources of the hides are Australia and the US.
