China: Beiliu city reports $7.2bn sales

Sales of leather goods in 17 leading plants in Beiliu city, Guangxi, an autonomous region in the far south of China, reached $7.2 billion during the first four months, 56.4% are higher than the same period of the previous year, according to the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA).

 

The city has 74 leather companies that employ 9,400 labourers, the CLIA says. An industrial park for leathergoods making is in the pipeline, to support the growing industry.
