BBC promotes animal by-product uses
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has produced a TV show about animal by-products, including cow hide.
The show, called ‘Kill, Cut It, Use It’, reveals the many uses for inedible parts of animals which are killed for their meat. Programme producer Clare Mottershead said: “Discovering we wear fish on our feet and play tennis with cows will make everyone look differently at their shopping basket.”
The first show airs on Monday 13 June on BBC3 and will look at the uses of cows – from blood used in plywood, glue, dye, ink and fertiliser to bones used in bone china, as well as hides.
