Clariant introduces hydrophobing agent for unfinished leather

07/06/2011
Chemical company Clariant has introduced a new aqueous hydrophobing agent, Melio WF-5246. The product is a water-dilutable, fluorinated polymer that the manufacturer says will allow tanners to achieve high degrees of water drop repellency in the leathers they produce.

According to Clariant Melio WF-5246 will work particularly well on unfinished leathers, including nubuck, splits and suede products for shoes, clothing and leathergoods.
