China plans first leather chemicals base
A program to build a national leather chemicals production base was announced yesterday on China Leather Chemicals Forum in Deyang city, according to the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA).
The program is proposed by several leading chemical plans in Deyang city and supported by the city’s government. The vice mayor of Li Siqing said that leather chemicals is one of three pillar industries in Deyang city, urging Deyang to spend more effort on technical renovation and creation to build the first of China’s first leather chemical production base.
Deyang city produces 15% of national leather chemicals, the CLIA claims, and plans to build a leather chemicals production base with 1,000 square meters area that will increase the production to 300,000 tons from current 80,000 tons, which accounts for 30% of national production. Deyang has also set a target to create three to five national brands and one to two international brands during the next five years.
