Leather exports from Guanajuato show strong growth

The Mexican state of Guanajuato achieved growth of 57.6% in exports of hides and finished leather in the first quarter of 2011, compared to the same period in 2010. It earned $98.8 million from these exports in the first three months of this year.

Exports of leather shoes from the state grew in value by 19% during the quarter, reaching a value of just less than $50 million.

State governor, Juan Manuel Oliva, announced the figures at the official opening of the Anpic exhibition in León on May 25. He said: "These successful results are the fruit of the commitment local companies have show to international quality standards."
