Quanzhou to close 79 tanneries

The China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) has reported that 79 tanneries with a production capacity of less than 100,000 pieces annually will be eliminated this year in Quanzhou city, in accordance with environmental protection requirements.
The city also sets the targets to cut discharge of effluent generated by leather making, the CLIA reports.
More plants in other sectors are going to be cut for environmental reasons.
