China: prices up, volume down in Q1 bag exports
According to statistics from the Chinese general administration of customs, in the first fiscal quarter the total foreign trade value of luggage and bags recorded a growth of 41.3% to $4.5 billion over a year earlier.
The export value grew by 40.9% to $4.3 billion, representing 93.9% of trade value, but it declined 33.8% to 675 million pieces. The average price was $6.75 per piece, up 112.9%.
For imports of the same products the value also posted a growth of 47.5% to $275 million.
