Three tannery workers die in Kanpur

Report from India say there was a fatal accident at a tannery in Kanpur on May 17. Three workers at the unnamed facility died after being overcome by toxic fumes from residue chemicals in a tank that they were cleaning and a fourth was taken to hospital.

On seeing that the difficulty the men had come to, the owner of the tannery is reported to have gone into the tank after them only to fall unconscious himself.

Local media only gave the first names and ages of the three deceased.

Police said they would be carrying out an investigation.
