Life in Lorca returning to normal
16/05/2011
Nine people have been confirmed to have died as a result of the earthquake, with many more injured. Local media said around 80% of the buildings in Lorca had suffered damage to some extent in the earthquake. Enrique Olcina, in charge of marketing at the Olcina Group, said there had been no damage at the Olcina site and that no member of the company’s workforce had suffered injury.
Furthermore, he said that no major damage had occurred at any of the tanneries in Lorca, of which there are at least nine, and that most of the business people he had talked to had been determined to return to work as quickly as possible.
“All of our clients have been very supportive,” Mr Olcina said. “We’ve even had support from clients that we are not working with at the moment. We are just glad we could tell them that we are all right. It’s been a very dramatic few days, but we are recovering.”
