Tremendous growth for Bangladesh

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh has reported that the country's leather sector achived export earnings of $529.65 million between July 2010 and April 2011, the first ten months of the financial year. This represents a year-on-year increase of 47.5%.

Exports of finished leather over the ten-month period brought in revenues of $238.76 million, an increase of 36.4%. Leather footwear increased from $162.6 million to $242.7 million, growth of 49.2% compared to the same ten months last financial year.

The government set the leather industry a target of $563.8 million in export revenues for the full year.
