Bulgaria: domestic consumption increases
Domestic consumption in Bulgaria has increased for the first time since the global financial crisis hit the country in 2008.
The national statistical institute said that at the end of Q1 2011 Bulgaria’s domestic rose from the bottom (1.4% year-on-year) after 25 consecutive months of slumping. The country’s domestic trade last grew 0.9% in January 2009. In January 2011 it slumped by 0.2% and a month later, by 0.1%.
In March 2011, the retail sales of fuels and lubricants increased by 7.6% year-on-year. The sales of leathergoods, footwear, textile and clothing have also increased by 0.2%.
