Leather crafts showcased at international craft fair
Leather crafts were well represented at international art and craft fair Collect, by UK-based leather specialist Bombarock. The fair, from 6-9 May 2011, was held at the Saatchi Gallery, London, and showcased contemporary crafts from 37 international galleries.
Georgina Brett Chinnery, owner of Bombarock, creates bespoke hand-decorated leather furniture and accessories, and showcased her new collection, entitled ‘Flora and Fauna’ at the craft fair.
“Leather provides endless possibilities to experiment, with form and texture, the basis of Georgina’s work showing a more artisan approach to her designs,” reads the company’s website.
“Decorated leather furniture was particularly popular during the Renaissance period in Europe used on wall hangings to chairs it was intricately embossed, tooled and gilded creating beautiful statement pieces.
“Georgina interprets these classical techniques of leather tooling to select antique frames and her own designs.”
