Ethiopia earned $70 million from leather and leathergoods exports over the last nine months, according to the Ethiopian Leather Industry Development Institute (ELIDI).

Berhanu Sarjabo, ELIDI’s communications director, told the ENA news agency that this figure represents an increase of 42.8% on the same period in 2010.

ELIDI has a target of increasing full-year leather exports to $500 million a year by 2016.
