Camel leather for Couples

13/04/2011
Danish footwear brand Ecco, which runs its own tanneries around the world, has added new colours and styles for 2011 to its Golf Street, spike-free golf shoe product line.

At the premium end of the collection is a men’s luxury version featuring high-grade uppers made from camel leather.

Ecco announced the camel leather addition when it confirmed an extension of its endorsement agreement with veteran US golfer Fred Couples, who will continue to compete in Golf Street shoes. The shoes caught the public’s attention at The Masters a year ago, when Fred Couples finished sixth. The increase in orders received after the event took even Ecco by surprise. It describes the shoe as hybrid sports-casual footwear. An engineered outsole that has approximately 100 moulded traction bars with more than 800 tractions angles provide a high level of grip in all conditions, so there is no need for spikes.

Ecco golf shoes are also worn in competition by scores of international stars, including Graeme McDowell, Aaron Baddeley, Stuart Appleby, Thomas Bjorn, Thongchai Jaidee, Thorbjorn Olesen, Andreas Harto, Gerina Piller, Belen Mozo and Jennifer Johnson.
