Elivir Desiam, managing director of the Fenac exhibition site, which organises the event, said there would be 600 exhibitors, representing a a total of 1,200 brands. He added that pre-event registration statistics suggested that visitor numbers could reach 50,000.
A majority will be from the host state of Rio Grande do Sul, but Mr Desiam said 10,000 would come from the other 25 Brazilian states and that more than 4,000 would be from other countries. Argentina will have the biggest international representation with 1,100 visitors, alongside 400 from Italy.
The event runs until April 15.
