Japanese car manufacturers to start production again

11/04/2011
A month exactly after the earthquake and tsunami that destroyed parts of northern Japan, the country’s big-name automotive brands said they wanted to start production again at all their domestic assembly plants.

Toyota, Honda and Nissan, the three biggest, said all domestic plants would be operational again by April 18. Nissan and Honda said they would have plants coming back onstream on April 11.

One key concern for all three companies has been disruption in their supply chains, leaving supplies of more than 100 components short.
