India: leather exports increase 11.7% in April-February

Indian leather exports during the first eleven months of the current financial year 2010-11, (April-March) increased by 11.7% to $3 billion from $2.8 billion in the corresponding period last year.

 

The breakdown showed that exports of finished leather increased by 18.7% to $644.7 million from $543.3 million, leather garments 15.2% to $1.2 billion from $1 billion, leather garments 7% to $360.4 million from $337 million, leather goods 8.5% to $647.6 million from $596.8 million and non-leather footwear 13.2% to $17.2 million from $15.2 million in April-February 2009-10.

 

However, on negative note, exports of footwear components fell by 4% to $208 million from $216.4 million.
