Stahl forced into leather chemicals price increase

07/04/2011
Specialty chemicals manufacturer Stahl has announced that it will increase the prices for several of its leather finish and performance coatings products from May 1 2011, or as contracts allow.

This increase is based on what the company called "the continuous escalation of prices of raw material feedstock". The company said the trend in which its raw material suppliers are "incessantly increasing prices to Stahl" has rapidly accelerated during the last couple of months and is a continuing trend.

"Stahl has no other option other than to pass on part of these increases to its own product prices in order to guarantee undisturbed supplies to its customers, which Stahl sees as its main responsibility," it added. "We do not enjoy doing so, but are forced to do so. The current levels of Stahl’s product pricing and the continuous increases we receive from our suppliers endanger the possibility to give our customers the service we want to and they are used to."
