Indonesian tanners association has new team in place for next three years
28/03/2011
Matters discussed included the election of a new APKI board for the 2011–2014 period, deciding a new logo for the organisation, and a broader debate on the situation of the leather industry in Indonesia.
In all, 148 people attended the event, representing tanneries, suppliers of leather chemicals, tanning machinery manufacturers, hides and skins suppliers, government departments and other industry organisations, including the Indonesian footwear association, Aprisindo, and the country’s society of leather chemists and technologists, HAKTKI.
Delegates agreed that the biggest challenges facing the leather industry in Indonesia at the moment are raw material supply and tannery waste management.
The new APKI board that the organisation elected to lead attempts to tackle these issues has Haryono Sutanto as chairman, Suliestiyah Wiryodiningrat as executive secretary, Ayu Rifka as vice-chairman, Lany Sulaiman as general secretary, and Toto Sugiyanto as treasurer. Agit Punto Yuwono will head up a team dedicated to examining the raw material supply problem, while Mashury dan Nadi Refiyanto will carry out a similar role on waste management.
