ANCI announces Moda Made In Italy dates
The Italian National Footwear Association, ANCI, has announced the dates of the Moda Made In Italy fair in Germany. The shoe fair dedicated to mid-to-top and top-end footwear will be held in the pavilions of Munich’s MOC from 3 to 5 April, 2011.
Participating in the fair will be 220 Italian companies, exhibiting their collections for the 2011/2012 autumn-winter season and strengthening strategic partnerships with local buyers. The event, which occurs on a six-monthly basis, has this year reached the 36th edition.
According to ANCI, Germany is the second largest destination in terms of value for Italian exports. A total of 29.7 million pairs of shoes were bought in the first nine months of 2010, making for an increase of more than 13% up on the same period in 2009, both in terms of quantity and value. In fact, in the first nine months of 2010, Italian shoes totalling EUR683.4 million in value were exported to Germany.
“This is an excellent result because we have passed the market transformation phase whilst still remaining loyal to the dictates of quality,” said Vito Artioli, chairman of ANCI. “Exports in Germany have started growing again, and Italian manufacturers of a high standard can work safe in the knowledge that the market is based upon solid foundations.”
Germany, Switzerland and Austria have together yielded EUR1.2 billion for the Italian footwear industry in the first three quarters of 2010 (an 11.7% increase on the same period in 2009), and the exports made towards these three markets accounted for 24.5% of the total value of Italian footwear exports.
Moda Made In Italy is an important event for Italian companies, is strategically timed to ensure the fair is the last chance buyers have for adding to orders.
“Moda Made In Italy sets itself the aim of confirming the reputation of Italian shoes,” said Mr Artioli. “The event has been moved by a few days to avoid opening it on a mid-week day: Sunday 3 April will be the first day of the fair, and accordingly meets with the needs and requests of the professionals working in this sector.”
