Hugo Chávez promises new tannery

16/03/2011
President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela has promised to build a new tannery in the state of Zulia.

The Colón district of the state was damaged by heavy rains at the end of 2010, with farmers losing livestock and crops.

As part of the government’s reconstruction plan, President Chávez has announced that there will be a new tannery, and that the government will either acquire or build an abattoir in the region to supply raw material. He said the tannery would process bovine hides and sheep and goat skins in an “eco-friendly and artisanal” manner.
