According to reports from the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), the environmental protection authorities in Wenzhou have ordered the closure of no fewer than 45 tanneries in the Yangyi district.
A CLIA report emphasised that the tanneries were small and that they had been failing to comply with environmental protection regulations.
