China: Leather Fashion Association founded
According to the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), China’s first Leather Fashion Design Association was founded on 2 March, 2011 in Haining city. Mr Zhang Sifeng, a fashion designer, was appointed for the first term of presidency of the association, while marketing president of the CLIA, Ren Youfa, was named as honourary president.
Mr Youfa said at the opening ceremony that there are nearly one thousand designers serving for the leather sector in Haining city, who are playing a leading role on the fashion trend of Haining leather. He noted that the establishment of a fashion association is good news for leather designers.
Haining has opened a Brand and Trend Centre in Haining Leather Market, which combines the functions of design and research, fashion show and release, and brand creation.
