FMD may be declining in South Korea
02/03/2011
Ministry of food and agriculture officials have confirmed that a total of almost 3.4 million head of cattle have been slaughtered to halt FMD in its tracks.
On the last day of February, the slaughter total was 3,079 head, whereas the average daily figure at the start of the month was 25,000. The ministry said the spread of infection had been held up by a vaccination programme that had included 98.6% of remaining cattle in South Korea and 73.6% of the country’s pig population.
