New England Tanners Club announces seminar details

This year, the event will take place on Friday, April 29 at the Sheraton Harborside, Portsmouth, New Hampshire. There will be a delegate fee of $35 per person.
The event starts at 1.00 pm with coffee. At 1.30, John L Wittenborn, president of Leather Industries of America, LIA, will speak. Mr Wittenbord has served as legal counsel to LIA for 25years. As counsel, he was involved in the many regulatory and litigation victories that LIA achieved in chromium regulation. Mr Wittenborn will present an update on regulatory issues facing the US tanning industry.
After a coffee break, Ralph Amabile, will take the floor. Mr Amabile is described by the organisers as a “born salesman who has serviced the leather business for 61 years”. Out of business school, he started his leather career with Colonial Tanning, and spent a short time with S.B Foot before spending 27 years with Prime Tanning, working his way up to vice-president of sales. Since retiring from Prime in 1998, Mr Amabile has represented Taiwanese-based tanning group Tehchang, acting as the company’s international director. He will discuss past and present sales strategies. His presentation will also touch upon availability of raw materials.
The last speaker will be Michael Todd, vice-president for leather management at Coach Inc. Mr Todd graduated from the British School of Leather Technology. Prior to joining Coach, he was a senior vice-president of both PrimeAsia and Prime Tanning. Mr Todd’s presentation, ”Keep it in Leather” will provide some insight into the global luxury goods industry focusing on the wants and needs of the consumer.
Pre-dinner drinks will take place between 5.00 and 6.00 pm and dinner will be from 6.00 till 7.00.
