Sichuan: five-year footwear program discussions
According to the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), the 12th five-year developing program for the footwear sector in Sichuan province, southwest China, is currently under discussion at the ongoing meeting held in the Wuhou district, known as the “lady’s shoe capital of China”. The targets set so far in the program for the industry are to create $1.5 billion in output value and create job opportunities for one million people by 2015.
The program has been drafted by the Western Shoe Capital Industrial Park and Economics Institute in Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences. Before publication, the document will be submitted to the Provincial Economic Commission for verification.
