Italian shoemakers visit China
A total of 35 Italian shoemakers are set to present their autumn-winter 2011-2012 collections at the ‘Shoes from Italy’ trade fair in Beijing in February 2011.
The shoe manufacturers are mainly from the central Marche and Tuscany regions, the northern Veneto and the southern Campania region.
The companies include the Florence-based men’s shoemaker Pakerson, as well as many other firms who make shoes for labels such as the Mariella Burani fashion group.
“The institute’s initiative aims to showcase the latest trends in Italian shoe design and to support companies who are trying to sell their goods in Asia for the first time,” said the president of Italy’s foreign trade institute, Umberto Vattani.
Shoe exports to China surged 46.6% in 2010 from 2009 and grew 11.6% worldwide between January and November 2010, Vattani said.
