Steak restaurant starts selling leather

14/02/2011

A restaurant in New York is offering guests the chance to enjoy a steak then purchase leathergoods from the animal they just ate.

Marlow & Sons in Brooklyn, is selling $300-$400 tote bags made from the leather of the locally grown, grass-fed cows that it uses in its meals.

The restaurant also sells leather belts, footballs and wallets, and from autumn 2011 onwards, diners will be able to purchase hats and sweaters made from rabbits and lambs that they ate for dinner.

The owners of Marlow & Sons told local media that the idea behind selling goods made from the animal that was just eaten is to honour it.
