Trade between India and Burkina Faso has gone up in recent years, with hides and skins from the African country, imported by tanners in India, making a positive contribution.

A recent statement from the Indian embassy in Ouagadougou said that trade with Burkina Faso was worth $88.4 million in financial year 2008–2009, compared to $51.8 million in the previous financial year.

Imports from Burkina Faso include cotton and minerals as well as hides and skins. Exports from India to the African country are principally from the pharmaceutical and automotive sectors.
