Experts a seminar and exhibition on livestock, dairy, fisheries poultry 2011 in Karachi on February 8 have said that Pakistan has the potential to set up ostrich farms to capitalise on growing demand for ostrich meat and to produce ostrich leather in Pakistani tanneries.

The country’s livestock population is dominated by cows, buffalo, sheep, goats and camels, but ostrich offers an interesting possible addition.

Sindh province’s chief minister, Qaim Ali Shah, who presided over the opening ceremony at the event, assured participants that projects to boost the livestock sector in Sindh would receive full support.
