IILF opens in India

Chairman of India’s Council for Leather Exports, Rafeeque Ahmed, said at the start of the event that the 2011 edition of the event would be the largest ever, with exhibitors occupying around 9,000 square-metres of exhibition space, up from 8,400 square-metres in 2010. In 2011, exhibitor numbers were 410, with 129 of them coming from outside India. In all, 20 overseas countries were represented. Organisers expect more than 1,500 visitors. This includes an organised group of buyers from countries including the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cyprus and Tajikistan.
India’s minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Virbhadra Singh, presided over the official opening ceremony.
