Istanbul fairs amalgamate

26/01/2011
The organisers of the Istanbul Leather Fair, which this year ran from January 18–20, have said the event was a success, in spite of lower exhibitor numbers.

A fixture in the calendar for November until now, the fair was postponed for two months this time because of its amalgamation with the Leather Garment Fashion Fair. The event is organised by Artif, with the Turkish Leather Foundation and Turkish Leather Garments Manufacturers’Association as the main sponsors.

In all, 215 companies exhibited, 20% of them from outside Turkey. Of these, 45% were leather garment producers, 20% tanners, and 20% chemical and machinery manufacturers. The other 15% were media companies, designers, stylists, industrial associations and academic institutions.

There were visitors from Russia, Pakistan, the Middle East and China.
