PTA condemns Punjab gas problem

26/01/2011

The chairman of the Pakistan Tanners’ Association, Khurshid Alam, has strongly condemned the gas suspension in Punjab, despite assurances made by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Governor Punjab and other government departments for the restoration of gas supply to the tanning units located in Punjab.

He has strongly criticized the government policy, which he claims is causing great hardships to the leather industry of Pakistan and as a result has lost precious foreign exchange in the termination of export orders. He claimed that exporters, particularly those located in Punjab, are unable to deliver goods on time to foreign buyers, for which he blames the gas interruption in Punjab’s leather industry.
