TES reveals limited alligator belt

20/01/2011

Italian luxury leather accessories brand, TES, has announced the limited edition of 500 alligator belts as part of its autumn-winter 2012 men’s collection being presented during the Paris Menswear Fashion Week.

The ‘Artigiano’ belt, the company says, is a homage to the ideal of the craftsman. “Every now and then I must remind myself that the belt was an object of absolute use, to hold up the pants of a man who was hard at work,” said Lorenzo Vaccari, TES founder and production director. With this in mind Mr Vaccari sourced raw Damascus steel tablets, that he then cut down to plates. Each plate is then attached by hand with four screws to a forged solid brass base.

“It wouldn’t make sense to attach this Damanscus steel plate to a factory-bought buckle. In order to be authentic, and truly call to mind the idea of the ‘artigiano’ who uses his own two hands to create what he needs, I had to go through that process myself, carving the belt latch with old fashion tools and utilizing manual ingenuity.”

The limited edition ‘Artigiano’ belt is made of beeswax treated alligator lined in malleable calf leather and Damascus steel. Only 500 buckles were created and no more will be produced.

Each belt will come with a fire stamped imprint on the reverse side with the series number. The series will be available for buyers and distributers at the TRANOI Fashion Fair, Parc Royal, Paris. TES will also make a limited quantity of the ‘Artigiano’ belts available through its new online store launching in March 2011, www.tessrl.it.
