A survey of citizens in the Chinese city of Shenzhen has found that leather goods and clothing are the favourite products of consumers in Hong Kong, according to the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA).

Well-educated high earners are the main consumers shopping in Hong Kong, the survey also found.

The survey was carried out by the Shenzhen retail association and a Shenzhen survey company, and focuses on the citizens in Shenzhen city. It shows that one in ten citizens in Shenzhen went shopping in Hong Kong during 2010. Leathergoods, clothing, jewellery, digital products and cosmetics are the commodities attracting them the most.
