Spain: finished leather exports up by 26%

The Spanish tanners’ federation, Acexpiel, has released figures showing that in the first nine months of 2010, the country’s tanning sector exported finished leather valued at EUR 243.6 million, an increase of 26% compared to the same period in 2009.

There were small increases in exports of Spanish sheepskin (1%), double face and rabbit skin (1%), but much bigger jumps in the figures for bovine leather (42%), pigskin (21%) and goatskin (13%).

Over the same nine-month period, Spain imported finished leather with a value of EUR 197.4 million, an increase of 28% on the same period the year before.
