Glove revenues under threat from wet blue exports

05/01/2011
Pakistan’s gloves manufacturers have demanded that the government place a complete ban on the export of wet blue to eliminate the shortage of raw material in the domestic market.

The Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PGMEA) has said its members are facing an acute shortage of raw material.

Pakistan’s glove exports for November 2010 had a value of almost $8.6 million in November 2010 down by 5% on the previous month. This decline occurred in spite of accumulated growth in the value of glove exports of 17.5% in the first five months of the current financial year (July-November) compared to the same period in 2009, reaching $45.7 million.
