CLIA meeting discusses environmental issues
The tanning committee of the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) held its annual general meeting in Suining City, Jiangsu province, on December 20. A forum on development jointly organised by CLIA and China’s Footwear Research Institute was part of the event.
This year, 2010, is the last year of the central government’s eleventh five-year plan and was also a critical year in the implementation of a government plan called The Light Industry Readjustment and Revitalisation Plan and for putting into place a series of guidelines aimed at restructuring the tanning industry in China. The meeting included discussions on the issues presented by these government plans, including environmental protection, the elimination of under-developed production capacity, energy saving and emission reduction.
