Mediterranean focus unites leather organisations

Leather industry research organisations CTC of France, CNCC of Tunisia and INESCOP of Spain joined forces at the end of November to form the Euro-Mediterranean Platform for Leather Industries (EMPLI).

The aim of the new body is to promote shared learning to increase the know-how, competitiveness and expertise of companies in the leather industry in each of the three countries.

At the launch of EMPLI, CTC’s chief executive officer , Yves Morin, said: “The combination of our competences and our means is politically necessary in order to reinforce our strength against the competitive offer coming from Asia or America. Economically each partner wishes to come together to optimise resources.”

Each entity will keep its independence and the new platform is a development of collaboration that was already in place among them.
