13/12/2010

Speeches made by footwear industry representatives at a children’s footwear forum held in the Chinese city of Quanzhou have highlighted that progress has been made over the last decade, but shown that children’s footwear must be improved on.

Qiu Li, technical director at the Productivity Promotion Centre for National Leather and Footwear said during the forum that great progress has been achieved in the manufacturing of children’s footwear in Quanzhou, although some problems still existed.

Children’s shoes need high tech support, Mr Li stressed, and safety and comfort should be prioritised in shoes for children. He urged manufacturers to make an all-out effort on the improvement of children’s footwear.

An official from the State General Administration of Sports called on joint efforts to be made between science and technology research institutes.
