Fire in Bangladeshi tannery

A fire broke out at the Madina Tannery in the Sadarghat district of the Bangladeshi port city of Chittagong on November 23.

According to media, raw materials worth around $14,000 were damaged in fire, which is reported to have been caused by an electrical fault. Two fire-trucks from the local fire service brought the fire under control after 90 minutes.

The Madina Tannery was established in 1983 to manufacturer crust and finished leather for export markets. It ships to customers in the US, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, India, France, Australia and Spain.
