A six-member delegation of leathergoods exporters from Sialkot has travelled to Turkey for a week-long study tour sponsored by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).

Sialkot is one of Pakistan’s most prominent centres of leather and leathergoods production.

The delegation’s head, Muhammad Anwar Butt, told local media that the Sialkot-based exporters would learn about new leathergoods manufacturing technology from their Turkish hosts and from visiting several leather and leathergoods manufacturing facilities in Istanbul and Izmir.

UNIDO has offered technical assistance to help the leather industry in Sialkot develop so that it can meet the demands of the global marketplace.
