Haining to build recycling centre for leather industry

The authorities in Haining, a city of 650,000 inhabitants 125 kilometres to the west of Shanghai, have announced their intention to build a recycling centre specifically for the leather industry.

 Lan Yunjun, director of the Zhejiang province leather laboratory, said the development would make the local leather industry cleaner. The new centre will make it easier for tanners to recycle materials used in production, reducing waste. One tanner, Brother Leather, will take part in a pilot project.
