They describe the resulting product, Tanfast, as “new technology for rapid, continuous tanning and low water discharge”. The product has won recognition from the Lombardy branch of Italian environmental group Legambiente and from the Italian employers’ federation, Confindustria.
The organisations have said that Tanfast will make it possible to treat dehydrated hides and skins using “a special patented process” in a linear machine equipped with a bath tank. Their claim is that the process reduces water, chemicals and energy consumption. The technology can also be used at the retanning, dyeing and fat-liquoring stages of the tanning process.
Conciaricerca is taking responsibility for bringing Tanfast to the wider market.
