US tanner files for Chapter 11

Prime Tanning, based in the US state of Maine, has confirmed an application for Chapter 11 protection against bankruptcy.

The company, which currently employs 178 people in the town of Hartland, has said it intends to use the move to restructure its finances, to keep its workforce intact and to maintain, and even increase its production levels.

Prime Tanning is Hartland’s biggest employer.
