Pakistan industry representatives reject sales tax

Representatives of Pakistan’s leather, leather garments, footwear and leathergoods industries met recently at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to draw up a common response to government proposals to impose a reformed general sales tax (RGST).

At a press conference after the meeting the president of the Pakistan Tanners’ Association, Khurshid Alam, said that if the move went through a complicated tax refund system would start up.
