Tannery of the Year features at Ethiopia workshop

The event, which took place in London, had as its theme Ethiopia: A Market on the rise. The African country’s ambassador to the UK, Berhanu Kebede, underlined the government’s keenness to promote trade and investment in Ethiopia. The government has drawn up a growth and transformation plan, which seeks to double agricultural production and pave the way for the industrial sector to play a leading role in ensuring sustainable growth and development in Ethiopia.
The Ethiopia Tannery Share Company, which Pittards acquired from the Ethiopian government in 2009 after running the facility as the government’s partner since 2005, was presented as an example of success, with due credit given to the operation’s achievement in being named as Tannery of the Year for 2009–2010 by World Leather.
